Understanding Color Chart Generation & Troubleshooting
The color chart generated by your device is real-time and not automated based on a specific test. It reflects the actual color reaction during the test process.
Here are common scenarios and how to address them:
1. All White Colors on the Chart
Some colorimetric tests naturally display a white (transparent) color corresponding to certain values.
In titration tests or tests without a clear water value, an all-white chart often means no sample water entered the mixing chamber or no reagents were dispensed.
Solution:
Ensure all reagent vials contain enough volume (50% in v1 devices, 25-30% in v2, Lab, and Pro).
Check for syringe clogs.
Run a test chamber calibration to confirm proper water flow.
2. No Color Change in Titration Tests
Possible causes:
Insufficient titrant.
Missing stirrer magnet in the mixing chamber.
Improper stirrer motor rotation.
Reading is outside the test kit’s reading range.
3. Darker Colors Than Usual
Likely due to insufficient sample volume.
Solution:
Calibrate the testing chamber.
Check that the dosing syringe isn’t pulling in air bubbles with the water in ReefBot Lab or Pro.
4. Shifting from Endpoint Color to Base Color
This suggests reagent positions were swapped in the mobile app or on the device.
5. Pale Colors
Ensure the stirrer motor is operating correctly and that stirrer magnets are inside both the reagent bottles and mixing chamber.
Reagents may need to be shaken and returned to their bottles to mix properly, as crystals might settle at the bottom over time.
Preventive Measure:
Schedule stirring tests for reagents that are not used daily.
From the main dashboard, click "Schedule" and set up the stirring test for nighttime or when the device isn’t running other tests.
By following these troubleshooting steps, you can quickly diagnose and resolve issues simply by analyzing your color chart.
